Spoon Carving – come along and whittle your very own spoon!
August 17 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm| £45.00 p.p.
Join us up in the forest between 09:30-16:30 hours on Saturday 17th August 2019
This course is open to all aged 18+ male and female alike
The cost is £45.00 and includes the use of an array of differing tools for spoon carving, the wood product to carve your spoon with (and of course to take away at the day’s end), various drinks will be on offer throughout the day and a vegetarian stew with breads for lunch (please feel free to supply your own foodstuffs as an alternative).
Come along to our special forest setting and learn to carve, shape and design a spoon of your liking. We’ll show you the correct way to safely handle an array of sharp edged cutting tools; from saws to axes to knives. We’ll run through some of the many cutting techniques and settle you in to develop your skill set further: including the use of hot coals to burn out the bowl area of your spoon, for an alternative effect. This session is aimed at those who have a desire to get going and who’ve possibly nurtured a long held desire to have a go, so join us in this most natural of natural settings and have a wonderful day of whittling away under thoughtful tuition. If you’re a ‘dab-hand’ but just want to explore the whole process from wood selection, product procurement, the billet to work with and doing so in the great outdoors alongside others, then please also feel welcome. We’re looking forward to seeing you all!
