Another gang of young men yomped up to our Range this weekend for some initial ‘basics’ on weapons handling including ‘stoppages’, corrective aiming and general all round a good ole honing of shooting techniques. Of course by this time, they had already formed into two teams, designed & created their team’s flag and ‘cammed up’ with charcoal for some really scary war faces!
Once happy that they’d mastered what they needed to know on the Range, there was a quick ‘coffee break’ (well hot choc! around the open camp fire) and then it was down to barricade construction and H.Q. bases building.
So it was out with the tarps, poles, pallets, loads of string, pegs and help on ideas during the frenzied building period – phew that done!
‘Game on’ was screamed and the first of many battles began over the ‘Canyon-of-Doom’, each battle was broken only by the whistle for ‘cease fire – weapons down’ for the collection of spent ammo.
Back n forth the battles went, culminating in an even tie, so next it was capture the flag as a bridge was built over the ‘canyon’ to facilitate movement to each ‘side’, those sessions also ended in a tie; so we ran a final ‘cross canyon face-to-face shoot out’ with clear ‘end of war’ team winners!
What a cracking Party guys, we really enjoyed having you up at camp!
After all that exhausted energy, a calm period followed of whittling some willow rods for a session of marshmallow toasting before it was home time. Cheers for coming folks, see you all again soon!
